What to Wear for Fall Photos
So, what do I wear to my Fall photography session? The outfits you choose to wear when capturing those beautiful freeze-frame moments should always reflect your style – however, certain colors, textures, and styles can play a huge part in the way your photos turn out on camera. It’s my job as your Plano Family and Newborn photographer to help you look & feel the absolute BEST for your photography session. In this blog, we will cover some basic Fall styling tips to help you prep for your session.
Rather than trying to match one color, opt for a color palette instead. Your color palette should include 4-5 colors. You want to pick these according to tones instead of just colors. Examples of tones can include earth tones, pastels, etc. If you already know your location, pay close attention to the colors represented there and what may or may not clash with your background.
FALL STYLING TIP #1: PLAN EARLY
Believe me, your session will sneak up on you! And if you’re anything like me, you probably are super visual and need to have it all laid out on your bed or bedroom floor in order to truly believe in it.
FALL STYLING TIP #2: CASUAL OR CLASSY?
The first thing you have to decide here is…
Are you going all out or keeping it simple?
FALL STYLING TIP #3: COORDINATING THE FAMILY
Select your outfit first, mama. Then add in some patterns/prints and solids/textures. Please remember we are coordinating, NOT matching.
FALL STYLING TIP #4: COLOR CHOICE.
I love color, obsessed with color, every color… but not every color looks great next to others. Start by sticking to 2-3 pops of color (or remember to search a Pinterest color palette)!
FALL STYLING TIP #5: PATTERN & TEXTURE
While I love a good pattern, I don’t always love mixing them. I recommend sticking to one or maybe two pattern choices and add colors/textures for everyone else. The more texture, the better. Did I mention that the more texture you add to our outfit the more interest you bring to your final image?
FALL STYLING TIP #6: LAYERS
The great thing about layers in this Dallas, Texas weather is that if it happens to be HOT during your Fall session then you can reduce the layers. On the other hand, if you wake up and it’s super chilly then you can embrace the Fall season with jackets, vests, hats, etc.
You are investing in a high quality photography experience which means throwing together outfits that match from your closet at the last minute just won’t do your session justice.
Your wardrobe selections should be well-thought out and crafted together so it can enhance your session experience and vision as well as bring out everyone’s personalities.
Every once in a while, to build upon my client closet.. I offer a little exchange.
Basically, you purchase a pre-approved dress and gift the dress to me after your session in exchange for a Full Gallery upgrade (a $250 value).
I keep the dress, you get a beautiful FULL gallery…
